We delivered 6 career-building workshops this spring—from AI tools to confident presentations. Here's what students learned.
Let's be honest: University gives you theory. But who teaches you how to actually ace a job interview? Or build a website from scratch? Or use AI without it spitting nonsense?
That's exactly why ESN UWB Pilsen launched our Spring Workshop Series—six focused sessions designed to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and career readiness.
Between March and May 2026, over 80 students registered and more than 60 showed up for hands-on workshops led by industry professionals from QuickJobs, Zephyron Tech, Ant-studio, and Kompetia.
Here's what went down. 👇
Workshop 1: "Jak na 130.000 měsíčně" with Dalibor Herbrich (QuickJobs)
📅 March 24
Dalibor broke down the brutal truth about CVs and interviews in the Czech job market. Students learned which keywords HR actually searches for and how to structure interview answers.
Student take: "One of the few workshops that was truly useful and practical."
Workshop 2: "Mapa IT Světa" with Bc. Jan Vandlíček (Zephyron Tech)
📅 April 28
Ever wondered how apps actually work? Jan walked us through frontend, middleware, and backend architecture using a live demo of a receipt-splitting app. Students left understanding the difference between Python data processing and Java security layers.
Student take: "You really need to try building things yourself."
Workshop 3: "Online Marketing Prakticky" with Mgr. Miloš Zlesa (Ant-studio)
📅 April 29
Miloš made online marketing click by focusing on strategy over tools. Students learned to identify target audiences, craft compelling CTAs, and measure ROI—skills immediately applicable to part-time gigs or personal projects.
Student take: "This topic was timely for me both professionally and personally."
Workshop 4: "Speak Without the Script" with Gabriela Šiller (Kompetia)
📅 May 13
Public speaking in English? Terrifying for most. Gabriela's workshop flipped the script with improv exercises—including a 3-minute spontaneous monologue challenge that made students realize how long 3 minutes actually feels.
Student take: "The unscripted speaking activity was intense—but that's where you learn."
Workshop 5: "Present Like You Mean It" with Gabriela Šiller (Kompetia)
📅 May 21
Building on workshop 4, this session focused on structuring presentations for impact. Key lesson? Start with shock value—grab attention in the first seconds or lose your audience.
Student take: "At the beginning, it's critical to shock or grab attention."
Workshop 6: "AI Nástroje Pro Každého" with Valerij Lejzo
📅 May 21
AI is everywhere—but are you using it right? Valerij demystified ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, explaining why AI sometimes spits nonsense (spoiler: dialogue window limits) and how to avoid it. Together we built a study app using apple terminal.
Student take: "Understanding the context window changed how I use AI."
What's Next?
This spring series was ambitious—6 workshops in 8 weeks. We learned that intensity isn't always sustainable. For next semester, we're refining our approach: fewer events, deeper engagement.
But one thing's certain: We're not stopping. ESN UWB Pilsen exists to elevate our student community, and career-skills programming is now a core part of that mission.
