Not every lecture prepares you for your first real job interview — but one workshop can move you a lot closer.
On 24 March 2026, ESN UWB Pilsen launched the first workshop of our new student development series with a topic that many students think about but few get practical guidance on: CVs, interviews, and how to grow in a job without burning out after the first month.
The workshop took place at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and lasted around 90 minutes. In total, 30+ students joined, which made this event a real milestone for us and a strong confirmation that this kind of practical education has a place at the university.
This event/activity is funded by the Grant for Student Activities (GRAS) from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Thanks to this support, we can build more opportunities that focus on real life skills and student growth.
Who was the speaker and why we invited him
The workshop was led by Dalibor Herbrich, founder of the job app QuickJOBS. What made his perspective especially valuable is that he meets 300+ HR managers and recruiters every year. That means he is constantly hearing what companies actually look for, what they skip in CVs, and what patterns repeatedly decide who gets invited to interviews.
For students, this is exactly the kind of insight that is hard to get in classes, because it comes straight from practice.
Why ESN is doing this
ESN is known mainly for supporting international students, buddy programmes, and community events. But behind that, we also have something else that matters a lot: our members.
Many ESN members do an incredible amount of work voluntarily. They organize events, lead teams, solve problems, communicate with partners, and handle responsibilities that are genuinely close to real project work. We want to support that growth intentionally and make sure students have access to development opportunities beyond the classroom.
This workshop was our first step toward making student development a more regular part of what we do.
A few moments we loved
Even though the workshop had a clear structure, it never felt like a one way lecture. Students asked questions, shared their own experiences, and created the kind of atmosphere where it is easy to speak up.
A few small but memorable details:
-
Many people came with notebooks or notes on their phone and actually wrote things down during the session.
-
The “questions at the end of an interview” topic sparked one of the most active parts of the workshop, because it is something students often underestimate.
-
A simple point that got a lot of reactions was the idea of dressing “one level higher” than expected. Not complicated, but surprisingly effective. Right matching colours could be also very important.
What we take from this as organizers
For ESN UWB Pilsen, this workshop was not only about delivering content. It was also about testing a format and learning what kind of topics and style students want.
The turnout and the feedback we heard right after the event made it clear: students want practical advice, real examples, and space to ask questions. That is exactly what we aim to deliver in this series.
What is next
This was only the beginning. Our plan is to keep building the development series in the summer semester and to gradually expand it with more workshops, courses, and speakers.
We are already thinking about applying for further support so we can offer more sessions like this on a regular basis and keep them accessible to students.
Thank you
A big thank you to everyone who joined and helped create the energy of the first event. And thank you to the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen for supporting this initiative and making it possible through the GRAS grant (GRAS 26 004).
We are excited to keep going.
